Library of the MPIMG

Library and Scientific Information

The library and scientific information service provides MPIMG staff with access to information in various forms and formats relevant to their research areas.

As a specialized scientific library, it offers diverse methods for searching and obtaining scientific information, along with access to a broad range of electronic resources. The library continuously evolves its services to meet the changing information needs of the institute’s staff. It is managed by one librarian, who provides the following services:

  • Preserving and expanding the library collection, including both analog and digital media
  • Offering reference and bibliographic services
  • Maintaining the Publication Repository (PuRe)
  • Maintaining the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and the MPIMG library website
  • Facilitating interlibrary loan services
  • Providing access to electronic resources worldwide, including eBooks, eJournals, and databases
  • Supporting the publication process, including Open Access, Creative Commons licenses, copyright law, and Article Processing Charges (APCs)
  • Conducting bibliometric analyses

The library uses a proprietary classification system for cataloging books, with an online catalog providing access to all literature held in the library and across MPIMG departments. Additionally, computing resources – including public computers, digital scanning, and editing equipment – are available free of charge to MPIMG staff and guests.
