Anke Hübenthal on FemmeNet and other promotional programs for scientists at the MPG

Minerva-FemmeNet is a program/network for all female scientists of the MPG. One of the pillars of this program is a mentoring scheme. More than 400 mentors from research and industry make themselves available on a voluntary basis; most of them have already gained professional experience and are adept at balancing family life with a career. They support and advise mentees on issues regarding career planning and their future career path. The network's mentors are not only based in Germany but – among others – in England, France, Spain, the USA and Australia.

Other promotional programs of the MPG include the Sign Up! Careerbuilding Program, the Elisabeth Schiemann Kolleg (for female researchers in chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science and technical disciplines), the Christiane Nüsslein Volhard Foundation (for female researchers in the experimental natural sciences who are raising children) and the Lise Meitner Excellence Program.

Anke will also talk about general offers for doctoral students/postdocs, for example the possibility for postdocs to apply for two coaching sessions.

Anke is based at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory in Frankfurt am Main, although her networking activities take place throughout (almost) all Max Planck Institutes. Anke is a trained biochemist with some knowledge in molecular modelling and molecular genetics who has worked as a journalist, PR consultant, in public administration and industry before joining the MPG as coordinator for Minerva-FemmeNet in 2009.

This event is intended for both female and male researchers. But note that the MPG has significantly more promotional programs for women since there are still strongly underrepresented. No registration needed.
