Mass Spectrometry Facility
The Mass Spectrometry group performs small to large scale proteomic and metabolomic analyses for all research groups at the MPIMG. We provide a versatile proteomics and metabolomics platform for the institute including sample preparation, sample digestion, mass spectrometry, and data analysis.
Beside the mass spectrometry service for the entire MPIMG, we perform own research projects in the area of mitochondrial pathologies, kidney cancer, method development for reactive oxygen species (ROS) detection by mass spectrometry, fluxomics, and are involved in several external funded projects.
The aim of our group is to decipher molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunctions caused by gene mutations or cancer, analyzed by proteomic and metabolomic approaches. Hence, we apply integrative proteome- and metabolome profiling, which can contribute to decipher molecular mechanisms to provide important information to further understand these diseases.
