Welcome to the Postdoc Association (PDA) of the MPI for Molecular Genetics
The postdoc association are a group of volunteers that represent postdocs at the institute. We are a contact point for postdocs to bring up issues and for the administration to suggest ideas for improvements to the organization and culture. We are present in some institute bodies (for instance the institute leadership meetings and some focused committees) and have meetings with the directorate. The association was established in January 2019.
What we want to promote
- Better work culture at the institute
- Networking and scientific collaboration among the postdocs of the MPIMG and of other Institutes in Berlin (MDC, BIMSB, FMP…)
- Long-term and short-term career-related training
- Scientific discussion with established researchers
- Irregular get-togethers with all postdoc of the MPIMG to have some informal exchange over lunch for networking. People can bring up issues or get feedback on their projects.
- Postdoc assemblies to discuss issues and initiate new community projects.
- Workshops and courses boosting post-docs’ careers (scientific article writing, grant proposal writing and presentation workshops, leadership course, …).
- Seminars given by late-stage postdocs and young group leaders.
- A postdoc retreat every two years.
- "Career sessions" - Round table discussion about career development with established researchers invited to give a talk at our Institute.
Regarding inquiries for research positions
Postdoc applicants should directly contact PIs for available positions. Those interested in pursuing a PhD degree are encouraged to refer to the IMPRS Website.
