Dr. Lindy Barrett is a leader in the genetics of neuroscience. She is a senior group leader in the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Her lab is focused on elucidating fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neural development and disease. Particularly, their research focuses on the factors which drive inter- and intra-individual variation in the human brain and the functional consequences of gene-dosage imbalance. They use human iPSC models coupled with gene-editing, screening, and single-cell-omics approaches to dissect mechanisms relevant for human development. Their long-term goal is to leverage molecular and cellular insights to better understand brain development and dysfunction, and to ultimately employ these insights to improve human health.
