Konrad Hochedlinger: Investigating mechanisms of cell identity in tissue homeostasis and disease

The Hochedlinger lab investigates the role stem cells play in normal development and disease. His research group is particularly interested in the biology of embryonic stem (ES) cells which are derived from early embryos and retain the ability to give rise to all cell types of the body, an ability referred to as pluripotency. They use cell culture and animal model systems to characterize the role of pluripotency genes.
