An experienced manager in charge of the Institute's administration
Claudia Thurow is the new Head of Administration at the MPIMG
On November 1, 2022, Claudia Thurow became the new Head of Administration for the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (MPIMG) in Berlin. She holds a doctorate in law and starts with ample experience in the scientific field and in management.
From her previous professional activities, Claudia Thurow brings in-depth expertise in the commercial, administrative and legal fields. She studied law and business administration and has been involved in various administrative matters over the past years.
For example, Thurow most recently served as managing director and commercial manager of the Hasso Plattner Foundation's museums. She is also familiar with the particularities of a scientific research institute because prior to that, she spent several years as head of the Legal and Technology Transfer Department and as a deputy of the Administrative Board at the Max Delbrück Centrum (MDC).
“I like the friendly and constructive working atmosphere at the Institute,” Thurow says. “The collaboration is characterized by mutual respect for the needs of the scientists on the one hand and the tasks of administration and technical support on the other – this is a good way to achieve our objectives together successfully.”
Thurow succeeds Christoph Krukenkamp, who recently moved to Deutsche Biomasseforschungszentrum in Leipzig as Administrative Director.
