Emeriti Directors and Departments
Vertebrate Genomics (Hans Lehrach)
The department for vertebrate genomics is interested in the development and application of concepts and techniques for the systematic analysis of structure and function of the human genome and the genomes of model organisms in order to answer important biological and medicinal questions.
Human Molecular Genetics (H.-Hilger Ropers)
The central issue of the department for human molecular genetics is the elucidation of etiology and pathogenesis of inherited diseases. Different systematic approaches have allowed the scientists to identify a large number of genes whos defects are responsible for genetically inherited intellectual disability and similar conditions.
