Welcome to the Student Association of the MPIMG (STA)

The Student Association (STA) represents all students at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics. Our association was established in April 2001 to promote the interests of students at the institute - in terms of scientific work, organisation issues and social events.

To distribute the latest information about events and other important student matters, we use a mailing list. When you join our institute as a PhD student, you should be automatically added to our mailing list. If you are new to the institute as a master student, please sign up to the STA mailing list to get the latest information. Just write anemail to the STA with your name, status and affiliation and we add you to the STA mailing list.

STA Representatives:

Projects and events in the name of the STA are coordinated by the STA representatives who are elected for one year. All students at the MPI for Molecular Genetics are eligible to become an STA representative. In order to be eligible for electing the representatives, you must be a PhD student or MSc student at this institute.

The current STA representatives are: Clemens Kohl (Vingron Lab/IMPRS-BAC), Ekin Aksu (Vingron Lab/IMPRS-BAC), Katarina Elez (Noé Lab at FU Berlin/IMPRS-BAC), Lion Raaz (Mundlos Lab, IMPRS-BAC), Maximilian Stözel (Bulut-Karslioglu Lab), Michal Malszycki (Aktas Lab/IMPRS-BAC), Nicole Eischer (Mayer Lab/IMPRS-BAC) and Marta Couce Iglesias (Kraushar Lab).

Within the PhDnet, the network of PhD students of the Max Planck Society, we are represented by Jakob Hertzberg (Vingron dep.), and from the 12th of September 2022 on, by Marta Couce Igelsias (Kraushar lab).

Our Goals:

We act in the interests of the students at the MPI and provide a guidance for new PhD and Master students. Furthermore, we can forward the problems and needs of students by addressing the director, group leaders, the staff association ("Betriebsrat"), and equal opportunity commissioner ("Gleichstellungsbeauftragte") or others.
