Exploring Future Careers

Girls´ & Boys´ Day at our institute

At Girls´ Day & Boys´ Day, April, 3th, participants had an incredible opportunity to get to know several professions at our institute!

From bioinformatics and microscopy to practical work in the workshop and laboratory – the pupils exchanged ideas with experts from different fields, conducted their own experiments and gained insights and inspiration for their future life.

Highlights of the career day included:

• Building and soldering in the workshop: Manufacturing an electronic circuit with a 3D-printed casing.

• Bioinformatics: Insights into the theory of DNA, RNA and genetics. Programming with R!

• Lab experiments: Examination of DNA of genetically modified bacteria.

• Working with a microscope: Preparing and staining cells

• Communicating science: pupils interviewed two scientists and published their news on the internet and on social media

• Cell sorting : preparation and observation of cells under different temperature treatments
