Björn received his Diploma from the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel where he studied ways to use herpesvirus saimiri (HVS)-based gene therapy vectors as a potential therapeutic strategy to treat hepatocellular carcinoma in the lab of Prof. Fickenscher. He then moved to the stem cell lab of Dr. Franz-Josef Müller to implement a reprogramming platform in order to generate various disease models associated with imprinting, rare neurological and inflammatory disorders. In late 2018 Björn joined the Meissner lab supporting projects that involve nanopore sequencing.
