For research on the medaka transcriptome we started with the oligonucleotide fingerprinting approach (OFP) as a method to reduce redundancy of our medaka cDNA libraries. We included in our analysis in total 119,040 cDNA clones from different adult organs and developmental stages (ovary, gastrula, neurula and organogenesis). From a reduced redundancy set we generated 5' ESTs and obtained 10,016 unique sequences. These clones are used as a resource for further experiments, including expression analysis.
An EST database is planned to browse clones and sequences.
