The Master's course in

finished in winter term 2007/2008. 40 students finished the course:
most of them doing their PhD now. Despite excellent evaluations, the
Master’s course could not be continued, because of serious financial
problems of the TFH Berlin.
The Master's course in Bioinformatics at the Technical University of
Applied Sciences Berlin was intended for graduates (Bachelor, Master,
Diploma, or State examination) of the subjects biology, biochemistry,
biotechnology, medicine, pharmacy, and related subjects, who are
interested in mathematics and computer science, and want to acquire
knowledge in the young area of bioinformatics. The course duration was
three semesters. The course finishing degree was a Master of Science
(MSc) in Bioniformatics.
In this course the foundations of computer science and bioinformatics
were taught. This includes, among other things, working under
Unix/Linux, learning of an object-oriented programming language (Java),
a script language (Perl), and a database system (PostgreSQL).
This postgraduate Master's course was supported by the BMBF (Federal
Ministry of Education and Research of Germany) as a part of the project
BCB - Berlin Center for Genome Based
Bioinformatics.
