NextGen Sequencing

With the development of the next generation sequencing technologies we became involved in the development of new techniques for Next-Gen Sequencing (Polonator) and running the SOLiD sequencing system for production(SOLiD).

The polonator - An open source 2nd Generation Sequencing Platform

The Polonator G.007 is an open platform, combining a high performance instrument at a very competitive price, with freely downloadable, open-source software and protocols, low-cost, off-the-shelf reagents, and dual, large area flow cells. All aspects of the system are open and programmable, providing the flexibility to support a wide range of alternative sequencing developmenty.

More information to the system at www.polonator.org

This technologies are used to study genetic variation (mutation analysis, CNV) in collaborations on the field of cancer genomics and gene expression for single cell analysis. We are especially interested in accessing the diversity within tumor tissue. Thus, one focus of the group is the development of methods for library preparation methods starting with minute amounts of initial material.
