Welcome to the Nanolab at the MPI-MG

Miniaturization One focus of our research is the development of miniaturized systems for performing analyses in functional genomics. We have been developing technologies for gene expression analysis and SNP-genotyping. Here we hav'e been concentrated on the application of homegeneous assays on a nanoliter scale, especially on the application of PCR based methods.

NextGen Sequencing The group possesses strong expertise on SOLiD Sequencing, Single cell transcriptome analysis, liquid handling of nanoliter volumes using advanced nanodispensing technologies and PCR-based methods. Following the open well approach several innovative high-density well plates have been developed and are currently used to perform gene expression as well as SNP-genotyping studies. Thus the developed µPCR Chip platform is enhanced by further improvements such as robust sample tracking and data management to perform PCR-based nanoliter assays on a high through-put

By now we are expanding the use of the platform developed for single cell analytics to gain deeper understanding of regulatory processes on a single cell basis to use this information for systems biology.
