In the Department of Prof. Vingron in the group of Dr. Ørom

A PhD stipend

is available in the to work on long non-coding RNA in transcriptional regulation in human.

The group is working on characterizing long non-coding RNAs in transcriptional regulation in human. A special focus is on the role of long non-coding RNAs and the functional overlap with transcriptional enhancers (0rom et al. Cell, 2010). The genome-wide involvement of long non-coding RNAs in transcriptional networks is another major topic of the group. The successful candidate will explore long non-coding RNA expression and function through large-scale sequencing, molecular biology and cell culture work. Additional, the establishment of interaction networks through chromosome conformation capture related methodologies will be addressed.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have a strong background in molecular biology or similar, and preferentially experience with working in a wet-lab. An interest in RNA biology and the desire to learn new techniques are required. The stipend is available for two years with the possibility of prolongation. More information on the research group can be found on ncrna.molgen.mpg.de The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. Applications, including cover letter, CV and contact information for two referees, should be sent until February 17, 2012 to
